Introduction
Many musical artists we see on Spotify and billboard's top charts often describe the environment they live in. This can be sociologically, psychologically, and also geographically. Artists like Eminem, 50 Cent, Celine Dion, and countless others experience frequent geographical changes throughout their lifetime, not just coming from nothing, but also the immense demands put on these artists to be at various different events. With that said, this begs the question: how significant are geographical changes in a musician's life? And, how does this impact their art?
Musical Artist Beginnings
Everyone starts somewhere, even superstar musicians that have hit it big. “Hitting it big” may mean on the outside perspective just an increase in popularity, and yes it is, but as a result of this notoriety; many artist go from the lack of financial freedom, to having the financial ability to afford to visit, and live in the most beautiful environments the world has to offer. This impacts their lives and does motivate them to boast about their successful lifestyle and beautiful environment. Although the popular artists you and I listen to flex this ability, we tend to forget and not understand the background of many artists who made it to the top. Many like Nipsey Hussle, J. Cole, and Eminem grew up with limited resources to make music, but to also live happily.
Musical Artists Hometown Pride
The beginning phases of a musician's life varies with many factors dictating their quality of life. One interesting finding from listening to hip hop music (currently the most popular genre as of 2023) is that almost all hip hop artists write lyrics about the close connection they share with their hometown. Although after attaining fame they often move to Los Angeles, countless hip hop musicians remain close to their hometown culture and some remain residents there. Drake, Eminem, Chance The Rapper, and many more are examples of famous artists who still live in their hometown, artists frequently mention this in their art.
Artists Love for Ecologically Diverse Environments
After attaining fame, comes the money. Artists love to indulge in lavish jets to cruise around the globe, tour buses to go on the road, and beautiful houses in some of the most beautiful locations there is. Composers enjoy living this fast paced and biologically vast environment to experience the most out of their life.
Impact on Musical Art
Almost all famous musicians have rigorous schedules even after attaining immense fame. Artists are responsible for traveling across vast geographical locations. At times their presence puts an increase in popularity to the spots these musicians live and/or visit. Beyond that, artists' opinions, initiatives, and even money are often based on their current and/or previous living environment.
Conclusion
We as listeners understand the bond of how art is connected to beauty, and beauty is a quality that is often found naturally in our environment. Artists take the financial advantage to purchase luxurious homes in beautiful locations to not just live comfortably, but also expand on their art and bring their music to a whole new level. As consumers we build a culture of understanding and admiration for successful musicians like Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Justin Bieber.
